Three Girl Scouts of Alaska 2017 robotics teams competed in the 2017 FIRST LEGO League Championship at Goldenview Middle School on Saturday. Robotics teams included two teams from Juneau, D2B2 and Cyber Tooth Tigers, and a team from Palmer, Creature Creators.
From start to finish, these Girl Scouts have shown what it means to be a G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader)TM. As robotics teams practiced for hours throughout the season, girls learned, failed, made corrections, and succeeded! The process allowed for growth in areas of STEM but also in leadership and character.
On Saturday, GSAK robotics teams performed well and learned even more. When the top eight teams were announced, D2B2 was among the group. The excitement continued as Cyber Tooth Tigers earned the Teamwork trophy and D2B2 won the Programming trophy. Way to go, Girl Scouts!
We want to share our congratulations with every single Girl Scout who was courageous enough to try something new, gain STEM skills, and build character from failing and trying again as they spent hours programming and making corrections. We’re proud of you and can’t wait to see what other accomplishments you will achieve as you increase your robotics knowledge! We also thank all volunteers who worked with Girl Scout robotics teams, from troop leaders to STEM professionals. Great season, Girl Scouts!
