Troops meet on a regular basis, generally during the school year. Troop membership is organized according to grade, with activities designed for each level.
Camps are open to all girls, regardless of Girl Scout membership. Our camps are committed to creating a community that helps campers unlock their potential and discover the world while developing life skills. In our safe and supportive environment girls become active participants in the learning process as counselors guide them in not only having fun, but understanding the importance of how and what they are doing. We offer two types of camps, day camp and resident (overnight) camp.
Girl Scouts of Alaska offers exciting events that provide girls with excellent opportunities to explore, play, and learn. Recent past events include a family ice-skating night in Anchorage with professional figure- and speed-skating demonstrations, songs and s’mores around a campfire in Juneau, a “Voyage to Mars” at the Challenger Learning Center in Kenai, and an outdoor survival skills event in Haines. For upcoming events, view our calendar.
Women of Science & Technology Day
A Girl Scouts of Alaska signature event, Women of Science & Technology Day allows girls to experience science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) subjects through fun, hands-on workshops led by women working in STEM careers. In 2015, we will hold Women of Science events in nine communities across the state.
Encampment is a bi-yearly, three-day event where girls from across the council gather at the Palmer Fairgrounds to attend activities and workshops, enjoy evening entertainment, and forge lasting friendships with other girls. Our next Encampment will be held in early summer 2017.
