Midtown World Thinking Day Event – Anchorage
February 17 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Grades: All Registered Girl Scouts and adults
When: 6:30 – 8 p.m., set up begins at 6 p.m., Friday, February 17, 2017
Location: Wendler Middle School Multipurpose Room
Event Description: Each girl is to bring a pie. Leftover pies will be collected and donated to Beans Café as a Midtown Girl Scout service project. Girls are encouraged, but not required, to come prepared to present a troop dance, skit, song, lip-sync, or cultural demonstration, based on the event’s “Alaska” theme. Please keep your talent presentation to no more than 5 minutes per troop. All donations will go toward the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund. We suggest you ask each girl to donate 1 cent for each year she has lived in Alaska, plus the years her parents have lived in Alaska (ex. girl’s 10 years, + mom’s 20 years, + dad’s 15 years = 45 cents). Any amount is appreciated. Donations will be accepted by troop.
Note: Please provide drinks (milk, pop, juice of your choice), cups, forks, napkins, plates, serving utensils, a tablecloth and simple table decorations for your table(s). Each girl can invite one or two adult guest(s) to attend! A girl can attend whether she has an adult guest or not. No non-Girl Scout children, please. Someone should arrive at Wendler at 6:00 P.M. to set up your table(s). Please do not have your whole troop arrive early! Teach the grace, “An Alaskan Thank You”, and our closing song, “The Alaska Flag Song”.
To register: Please confirm the number of people attending to reserve a table or tables for your troop. Include girls and adults. Call Mrs. Weimer at 562-5647.
Registration Deadline: Register no later than Friday, February 10th with approximate number attending and your entertainment, if any.
